Rhiannon Smith, PhD

Dr. Smith studies friendships and other peer relationships in childhood and adolescence. She is interested in the role that these relationships play in youths’ social and emotional adjustment, including depression and anxiety. Dr. Smith’s research investigates the development of social cognition and empathy in friendships. She also is interested in diversity in peer relations, including cross-race/ethnicity friendships and the peer group experiences of LGBTQIA+ youth.

 

Kim Chaney, PhD

Dr. Chaney is an Assistant Professor of Psychological Sciences at the University of Connecticut who explores how everyday people think about the ways prejudices operate in themselves and others.

Katelyn Pitcher, MS

katelyn.pitcher@uconn.edu

Katelyn Pitcher is a third year graduate student in the developmental psychology department at the University of Connecticut. Her research focuses on stereotype and bias development in children, as well as children’s awareness of group identity. She also studies mental and social well being outcomes in sexual and gender minority youth.
